Job Purpose: This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher of Physics to join
this high performing school. We are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified
graduate to teach Physics in our well-equipped department.
The School and its senior management are strongly supportive of Science.
Pupils study the Edexcel IGCSE course, with Physics proving a popular choice
in the Sixth Form, both at A-Level or as part of their International
Baccalaureate programme. Outside the timetable, the Physics Department
offers a significant range of co-curricular provision for pupils of all ages.
Additional support is provided for students applying to read Physics and
Engineering at Oxbridge or other prestigious universities in the UK and
overseas. Recently, five students took up Oxbridge places for Engineering or
Physics.
The role involves teaching Physics throughout the School, up to and
including the Sixth Form. The successful candidate will also be expected to
assist in the support offered to pupils outside the classroom. Furthermore, all
teaching staff are expected to participate fully in the wider life of the School
through co-curricular involvement.

To undertake supervision and cover duties as required.
To contribute to other aspects of education outside the classroom e.g.
games, clubs & visits.
Person
Specification
Degree in Physics or a closely-related discipline.
We will consider well qualified applicants with or without a PGCE.
The successful candidate will show a commitment to the success of
every student studying Physics in the school and should possess a
willingness to help students outside the normal teaching day.
Good communication, and a commitment to the role.
Able to demonstrate a good understanding of current thinking and of
likely future developments in the subject area and to be aware of the
wider relevance of Physics across the curriculum.
